Wyoming Drivers Education Requirements

Wyoming began a graduated licensing program in 2005. Like many other states, this system allows the state to lift the restrictions off driver’s licenses after the driver has demonstrated different levels of responsibility and achievement or passed certain tests. This is quickly becoming a licensing program implemented by many states in the United States, and, when coupled with driver’s education, is a great way of teaching young people or adults safe driving practices and habits.

The state of Wyoming requires that beginning drivers be at least 15 years old (unless the driver can prove extenuating circumstances such as extreme hardship, then the minimum is 14). You can then get your learner’s permit and time log to catalog your driving experience. In order for the driving time to count, all hours must be recorded on this time log sheet and signed by a parent, guardian, or other licensed driver. In order to get your driver’s license, you must catalog a minimum of at least 50 driving hours, with at least 10 being at night.

A passenger who is at least 18 years old and has a valid driver’s license must accompany teens driving in the state of Wyoming. Although driver’s education is not a requirement in the state of Wyoming, it is highly recommended. The skills and knowledge teens will acquire while taking this course could mean the difference between life and death–literally. Teen drivers account for many automobile accidents and deaths in the United States, and driver’s education is a valuable way to avoid becoming another tragic statistic.
